Karnataka to Enhance Tourism with Sea Planes and Virtual Heritage Tours

Karnataka is set to revolutionize its tourism sector with the introduction of sea planes and virtual heritage experiences. The state government has unveiled plans to deploy sea planes to key tourist destinations, enhancing accessibility to scenic locations like Hampi, Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS), and the Almatti backwaters.

These iconic spots, often regarded as Karnataka’s crown jewels of tourism, are expected to draw more visitors with improved travel options. Tourism Minister HK Patil emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting Karnataka’s rich historical and cultural sites through innovative initiatives.

To attract international tourists, Karnataka is also developing a multi-lingual tourism website. This platform, designed in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, will offer detailed information about the state’s attractions in multiple languages, ensuring a seamless experience for global travelers.

At the Karnataka International Travel Expo (KITE) in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah outlined the government’s strategy to strengthen tourism infrastructure. The event facilitated business-to-business (B2B) discussions, bringing industry experts together to explore ways to enhance travel connectivity across Karnataka. Alongside the sea plane initiative, the state is working on improving rail and road networks to make travel more convenient for visitors.

Adding a digital edge to its tourism offerings, Karnataka has also launched its first 3D virtual heritage tour. This project features immersive 3D videos showcasing 20-30 temples and other historical landmarks protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The initiative allows people worldwide to experience Karnataka’s architectural marvels without leaving their homes, broadening the state’s global reach.

By integrating advanced technology and improving transport options, Karnataka is making travel more engaging and accessible. With sea planes, virtual heritage tours, and a multi-lingual platform, the state is positioning itself as a premier destination, highlighting its natural beauty and cultural wealth to a global audience.
